Industrial Property and Copyrights

With the purpose of guaranteeing an efficient protection of copyrights and industrial property, the Republic of Panama has ratified several international agreements on the subject, at the same time that it follows the rules of the Nice Agreement Concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks.

That is why Panama has created the national entities oriented to guarantee the protection of registered trademarks, investment patents; film, musical and literary masterpieces and software, among other kind of protected creations in its authorship by our legislation. Additionally, Panama counts on a specialized jurisdiction in the copyright protection which pursues and punishes in the crime category, those fraudulent actions executed against the copyrights and industrial property.
